The Orion Constellation

The Winter is pretty harsh here in the UK, average temperature at night minus 3.
The captured frames I processed in DSS / CS6 & was somewhat disappointed.
Intrigued by the stacking software Sequator & had to attempt another processing session.
So here is my attempt at the Orion Constellation using Sequater & CS6

Equipment: D90 - 50mm F1.8G @ F2.8 - ISO800 - 30s exposure - 125 lights 50 darks

That is very cool to see Marc!!! I have a friend that has a large telescope. But I have never tried to get pictures with it.

I am no pro at this, a mere novice compared to some. Here is a brief explanation of how:
Mount Nikon 90 & 50mm lens to skywatcher star adventurer.
Polar align & start tracking.
A few test shots at a bright star to check alignment, drift etc.
Swivel camera round to Orion keeping Beatleguise in the upper left corner of the frame in this case.
A few test frames at ISO800, different exposure durations & checking focus ( I settled for ISO 800 F2.8 30s)
Captured 125 frames. Light frames
Placed the lens cap on. Same settings captured some dark frames.
Stacked them in Sequator.
Opened the stacked tiff in photoshop cs6.
Applied a gradient layer to rid pollution, sky colour gradients.
Applied a high pass filter.
Placed two sample points. one for whites the other for black.
Adjusted levels to roughly equal on the histogram
Applied numerous curve adjustments
Checking levels in between curves
A bit of sharpening & done

Beautifully done Marc your work with the Sequator is impressive.

Very nice. Glad to see everyone jumping in and giving it a try. I think we are all intrigued by Sequator.

And you used the settings I have used for most images:

Base image.
Star image.
Auto brightness
Reduce polution
Enhance star light
