Melania Trump is the second foreign born First Lady of the USA. The first was Louisa Catherine Johnson Adams, wife of President John Quincy Adams, from 1825-1829. Melania Trump and Jackie Kennedy are considered the two most beautiful First Ladies. Both married rich, both were at least bilingual. Both were/are poised. The man that made the glass bowls for the president said that only the glass from Slovenia was perfect enough for this project. He said that many months before the inauguration.

I just found out that she speaks 5 languages. English, French, German, Serbian, and of course, her native Slovenian.

I ran across a Slovenian proverb while helping edit the English version of a soon-to-be-published short biography of Mark Anton Kapus, SJ (1657-1717), the first Slovenian missionary to North American (northern Mexico and part of what is now Arizona). Like many Slovenians, then and now, he was competent in multiple languages. “You are worth as many persons as the number of languages you know”. (Didn't put in the Slovenian original as the diacritical marks necessary to the meaning of three of the words do not come through on the website.) This should be emblazoned above the portals of every university in the U.S.

The first First Lady was from England, and only spoke English. Past American Presidents, when traveling abroad, have Interpreters to help with communications. They still will have them. Melania, traveling to Europe with her husband, and understanding the culture, can only be an advantage. IMO.
