New to the hog. Novice with a photography interest primarily grandkids and vacations. Liked iPhoto don't like photos app. I want a simple app to use on my pix. Which of the above apps is the best for a simpleton? I couldn't figure out photoshop. Thanks

Welcome to our forum!

There are lots of online articles about Luminar. The price is very good compared to LR.

Unlike LR, Luminar works with layers.

Have you really tried Photos? After two or three days, I found it both easier and better than iPhoto. If something simple is what you're looking for, you might take another look at Photos.

Lightroom requires time and commitment to get the best from it. It is a professional level raw processor which is primarily useful for optimizing raw file exposures. If you want all the normal post processing bells and whistles (like layers or a pixel editor to replace old Uncle Ralph's head with new Uncle Bill's head in a family photo) than Photoshop Elements may be a better choice for you. If you want a simple, easy to use program with no learning curve, than none of the Adobe products may meet those requirements.

Luminar is a powerful and fascinating editing program. I believe this time next year, many on UHH will have discovered it. I'm still using it as a plugin to LRCC and PSCC.

It may be important, but I do not think Luminar has a white balance control. If you need to adjust your white balance in post processing, you will need to do it in a different application in post processing then import to Luminar.

Hi Dave, I guess I don't get why one would need LR with Luminar according to this comp.
