The serial number of the drone was traced back to the registered owner by the FAA. Seattle PD indicates charges are pending.

Those drones sure look like fun, but I don't think that my reflexes, manual dexterity or vision are good enough anymore.

This guy seemed to have the same problems.

So if the police have the drone, who posted the video?

ever watch DRL a new sport called Drone Racing League they are going 80 mph in old warehouses. The world champion this year was Jet from Fort Collins Colorado , Jet will receive a six figure salary for next year. t is the fastest growing sport now. It is the future , Amazing to watch dogfights at 80 mph in such a small area.

Unless it broke something I wonder what they could charge him with?

One of my early careers was installing equipment on towers. The last thing I needed was a distraction. Birds can scare the wits out of you and drones do not seem to be completely controllable. I would image a drone would provide some audible warning, but I really do not know. If one of those workers was startled and fell it could ruin his day. The safety straps and lanyards they now use help prevent the long fall, but present another risk: the sudden stop. I once hung by my lanyard while working alone. Fortunately I was able to pull myself back up and recover. I only dropped six feet but the stop was a real eye-opener!

Please fly them in a safe area and try not to frighten humans and animals.

i personally would like to see these banned from use by anyone other than security or military organizations. it doesn't take much imagination to come up with a scenario where terrorists attach small powerful explosive devices similar to suicide vests and crash a hundred or a thousand of them into a plaza or stadium full of people. there is no way any system could bring them all down. many won't agree with me but tell me that again after it happens.

There is only one problem with drones - the idiots that fly them where they shouldn't and those that cannot control them. Banning them is like saying all men should be castrated because a few can't control their impulses.
That said, I have flown a few but find that like you, Madman, my reflexes and dexterity are not what they used to be, so I do not fly them in populated areas. Only once did I fly one at a party but it was a very lightweight model that wouldn't hurt a fly if it failed accidentally. The big, professional camera drones can be very dangerous. Judging by the video, that drone had a quality camera, stabilizer with camera control, long distance capability, and very smooth flight characteristics. Read - fairly substantial drone.

I already saw this video and even downloaded it to my computer so I can watch it on my big screen TV. It may have been illegal and dangerous but it sure looks good in a time when I'm getting to think a lot of drone photos and videos are getting boring.

Not a very good analogy. Every male comes with testicles. You don't choose to have them attached but you can elect to have them removed. Drones are are an elective purchase. Life can go on very well without them. We don't allow people to own C4, tanks, bazookas, or .50 caliber machine guns and it isn't for operator reasons; it for "risk" reasons. Placed in the wrong hands they are at "high risk" for nefarious purposes. To me (my personal opinion) drones fit into that category. They will only improve in capabilities. Read "The Ultimatum" by Dick Wolf. A fascinating and highly relevant book on the topic.

OK then, maybe I mis-spoke, but how about saying the same thing about rifles?
I consider myself relatively liberal and agree that certain weapons should not be in the hands of the average citizen (automatics, C4, launchers, etc) but would never advocate the complete ban on all guns.
I am actually in agreement with you and believe that above a certain weight and size, they should be restricted to people who have proven they are capable of handling them and have clean backgrounds.
