The day's freshness seems to come across (can't work out exactly why).

Fresh isn't the word, the wind cuts straight across from the North Sea.

I wonder if that's colder than our Cascade Mountains snow-freshened winds that come barreling down to Yakima in early spring

I like the composition and scene very much. A terrific feeling of the season (though I'd like to see the bright green less vivid) and the place. Not sure about the walkway bottom corner right. I think I'd like more of it - or less, though it does help keep our eye in the frame.

Is the closest building a stable/barn? I love how the three structures nestle together; their architecture is very eye-catching.

I wonder if that's colder than our Cascade Mountai... (show quote)

The green is pretty accurate, it's a very wet place. I wasn't sure what to do with the walkway, I could have given more or I could have given less... postcard pretty pictures aren't my forte

The building is a house with someone living in it, it looks to be on the point of falling down. With this being drained marshland the ground shrinks and many of the old dwellings lean at fantastic angles.

Very Pleasant scene, nice angles, leading lines, textures and colors. The board walk seems to pull the eye, maybe a slight crop to remove it all together.

I find the scene "comforting". Even though the winds are blowing those tall grasses and cause ripples on the water, the bit of orange, green & gray/blue brighten up a January day. It looks inviting and a place to warm the soul. I like the walk way, good eye stopper, and an invitation to walk about.

I think it's the green grass that contrasts (there we go again . . . ) with the grayness of the rest of the picture. Also, I would have cropped some off the left end of the image.

Might we also say vivid and sharp?

I felt that cropping from the left cramped the house too much

Graham, this is a lovely scene that personifies tranquility. Nicely composed, as usual. The somewhat muted colours enhance the coldness of the area.
