One's as good as the other - both excellent.

A friend is being published in Arizona Highways in March, and I'm going to present her with a gift card. She's a Canon user. I'm wondering if anybody who shoots with Canon has a preference between these two stores?

I'm asking only because when I bought my computer monitor a couple of years ago, Adorama didn't even offer it. I realize that in terms of prices, service, and reliability, they are in a dead heat. But I'm asking to find out if one is considered stronger than the other in terms of selling Canon products. They're probably even there as well, but I just want to be sure.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I check both, B&H likes to give 2% back and sometimes throws in filters, Adorama likes to throw in stuff, I take what ever is the better deal for me. BOTH STORES ARE GREAT. Most of the time I buy from my favorite brick and concrete store in Kent Ohio, Campus Camera.

I can say that B&H customer service is outstanding. I purchased a 27" iMac in December and within about three weeks I saw the price had dropped $50. I sent an email asking for a price adjustment and in less than 24 hours I had a response agreeing to make an adjustment and I had a credit card refund within a couple of days. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful.

I agree with others, a prepaid Visa.

Both excellent stores. I like B&H website better, and they'll carry a wider array of products and supporting gear, but for Canon, they're the same. I have to agree that Adorama has a better educational department and I do get a discount, as a student in NY Institute of Photography, from them that steers me more toward Adorama. However, even when i use the student discount portal, a lot of Canon stuff is not discounted, as has been mentioned already.

You can't go wrong with either.

My vote goes with a Visa or Amex card so she can make her own choice on what/when to buy.

Useful discussion here. My 2 cents: Either store will do. And yes to a Visa card; then the user can decide where to buy.

Personally I vastly prefer B&H, made a couple of purchases at Adorama, just was not as happy afterward, B&H, never a problem, I even like the store better, though I think I like the neighborhood around Adorama better for shooting, Union Square, 14th Street, Bob.

As to buying, I find both about equal in all regards.

When It comes to buying, or selling Used gear, B&H by far!

I vote for B&H they have good customer service and reasonable price and free shipping and they don't charge sales tax. very good return policy.
Their knowledgeable staff will also give advice and good suggestions

B&H! They have saved me hundreds of dollars in the sales department alone. I've only had to return two items and never had any problems what so ever. Been to their store in New York City and couldn't have been treated any better. Besides getting daily sales info on the internet I also receive a catalog every year. Very religious people and are so good in letting the customers know well in advance when they will be closed which is great if you plan on visiting them while in NY. Their return policy is above and beyond! Just for "SS" B&H has many very good informative and educational videos that you can watch.

I've never had a glitch with B&H... I've not ordered anything from Adorama.
