Focus Stacking (FS).
Can someone please give us the low-down(old school) on Focus-Stacking or a link? When is it used? Why? What are the shooting details? Tripod? Multiple images? Camera settings? Processing methods?
Before and after examples. Etc. Thanks!
If you have not done so already, you may find the articles on this site to be some help. Just search on "focus stacking". Have a good journey in focus stacking, it is fun.
Thanks for the info.
Back in the day of Film we used a light slit and multi exposures on the same frame to do something like this.
I ordered one from Franzis, but haven't started to use it yet. My guess is that is discounted so much ($25 instead of $100+) that they are about ready to release a new version. But it will handle all my cameras and up to 500 focused images. Hope to try it soon.
I also took the plunge and got the Franzis software. I will play with it later. So far I have hand-stacked a few images in Gimp with good results, though one cannot reasonably do that if there are several original pictures to contend with.
HOHIMER, there is also another macrophotography web site found here:
http://www.photomacrography.net/ There are quite a few people there who discuss stacking, and many posted images that were stacked. I just did a search there for stacking and found a LOT of material. It was actually pretty overwhelming, but a more specific search term should narrow things down. Also there are a lot of easy to follow videos on You Tube about how to do focus stacking. I plan on going there first when I am ready to get into it.
Thanks to all of you for your input.
I have a lot of reading/watching to do!
You Tube has lots of videos
