I finally got my new A99ii working as advertised.

It took two calls to India but now everything is working as advertised. I can send images wirelessly to my iPhone via NFC or to my Laptop via my home LAN. I can even link my iPhone via Bluetooth to my A99ii so the photos include GPS location in the metadata. The current local time is also sent from my iPhone to the camera and into the metadata.

I found using the camera to be fairly intuitive because this is not my first A-Mount Sony. Getting all the software installed was tricky and difficult. That's all behind me now and I'm looking forward to using it with my various lenses.

If you missed it here is a link to some photos I took with it shortly after I got the camera. I was at a night football game:

I'm glad you got it working correctly. That camera is $3200, so it's supposed to work as advertised. It's now Sony's new A-mount full frame flagship camera. I saw photos from your previous post. Great shots. Enjoy your new camera.

I am waiting for the detailed reviews to start coming in. And particularly, want to see the comparisons to the A99 first version. Want to see how much better AF is and how much better IBIS is. DxO has given us the ISO results already. Want to hear more. My current A99 seems to focus faster than my A77ii. And the new A99ii should be even faster.

But what I will probably buy is the Tamron 15-30mm f2.8 to go along with the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 and Tamron 70-200 f2.8 and Tamron 150-600mm. Just bought the Minolta 100-300mm f4.5-5.6 APO, and first shots with the A99 and A77ii looked real good. I also have the Sony 70-300mm, and I will have to see how the two compare to each other. But this lens is so plastic compared to the Minolta 100-300.

I never owned the A99 but do have the an A77ii. I can tell you that the IBIS is much improved with the A99ii. Look at the football photos I posted in the link above. I was using a 500mm lens and typically 1/400 seconds to stop the action. All these photos were taken hand held. I see no signs of camera movement that I expected.

Oh, I believe you. The A99ii should be 4.5 to 5 stops of image stabilization. And the older image stabilization was more like 2 to 2 1/2. PLUS, the A99ii now allows you to dial in a focal length for all the lenses that don't communicate to the camera. That alone would be nice. I would have fun with that with my M42 lens collection.

I too was lusting over the a99ii but with a new model upgrading my a99 and the $3,000+ price, I and of course my wife made me stop and wait for the a99 iii.
Her argument was that I'm getting most all that I want now. (see attached)

Yes, if had already owned an A99 it would be hard to justify the three grand plus for an upgrade.
