Beautiful Image, Steve!

What does tracked but not guided mean?

Morning from UK Sonny
tracking = motorised mount to follow the earths rotation
guided = the use of a guide scope, pc software that follows a star

Super nice , what kind of tracking device did you use?

Thanks for all the comments.

To add to Marc's comment about guiding - The second guide scope communicates minor adjustments to the mount so that the tracking is perfect and stars are pinpoint.
If you zoom way in on the image you will see the stars are out of round.
Bloke I get lots of satellites in my images but don't see one in this image.
Ronsh I have an older astro-physics mount - http://www.astro-physics.com/

A great place to buy and browse used astronomical equipment is astromart.com (I have no affiliation with any of these vendors)

p.s. I should mention I used a canon 6D modified by Hap Griffin for this capture - http://www.imaginginfinity.com/

thanks
steve

It starts below the centre of the nebula, to the left of the bright-ish star, and goes down towards the bottom left. I can only see it when 'double-downloaded', but it's there.

I see it thanks! Spending most of my time and energy capturing the images not examining them closely.

Beautifully done Steve. For a single shot unstacked I'm really impressed.

You got a lot of detail for a single shot, do you subscribe to the school of Sonny...don't stack? A good job tho.

Europa I want to get my stars as pinpoint as possible before stacking so the alignment is correct.

Stacking will help you with that, it'll allow you to shorten your exposure time per image.

Great shot, one of the best I've seen of the Orion nebula. Keep shooting.
