Took a short trip to San Diego last week. This was taken outside our hotel on Coronado Island one morning.

Very nice. That looks like a holo around the Sun. Is it really, or was some special filter used. (I admit I'm ignorant of technique.) -Ed

Sorry! I meant halo. Typing with just two fingers has never been easy.

Thank you

I did not do anything special to produce the halo. If it's there because of something I did.......I'll go ahead and take the credit It wasn't something I saw (or noticed) when I took the shot.

I was shooting into the sun so in the original RAW file the area around the sun is pretty blown out and the boats are almost silhouettes. When I adjusted the the highlights way down, the halo became apparent and when I adjusted the "clarity" up a bit (in lightroom) it became more well defined.

My guess would be that it is due to some lens flare effect.

I'm glad you like the image.

Thanks for your answer. I have seen solar halos, and even got a photo of one. Unfortunately I had to get my camera, and by the time I was back out the best of the halo had faded.
