Which side does your printer print on? I've had some Canon that printed on the up facing side, and others that print on the down facing side. If you are not sure, take a piece of plan paper and put an X on one side and put it in your printer then see whether or not the X comes out up or down.

Depends, you want the print to be on the glossy side. Put the paper in so that it prints on that side.

Not a good answer as some papers can not be printed on the back side. If you do this you will get a smeary mess on your hands!

MOST printers with the paper tray at the bottom front require the printed side down. Printers where the paper is fed from the top USUALLY require paper to be good side up. Look for a symbol on the tray indicating which is the correct orientation. Or just read the manual.

What the hell are you talking about? It's a perfect answer. regardless of how the printer feeds the paper you want to print on the glossy side as stated. No where does he say to print on the back side.

Not all paper print surfaces are glossy, such as matte-surfaced papers.

I would suggest you take off your blinkers, and read the printer manual / instruction sheet which came with the printer. I have got Epson and Canon printers, and the paper goes in print side upwards, regardless of whether it is glossy, lustre, or matte. When your paper emerges from the printer, which side is the printing on?????? UP or Down...Top or Bottom. It's not 'Rocket Science'.

Read your manual, stop fighting it, this is likely why you are black and blue.

Just find a couple of sides of text to print and a sheet of printer paper, write top side 1 where you think it should go on the first side, print the first side then reload the sheet and print the second side. Note which way you loaded it each time.

The ideal result will be both sides have text facing upwards with top side 1 written on the first side near the top.
if not well you should be able to figure where you went wrong, make note and when you have figured it out make a note on the printer.

I would put a blank sheet of non photo paper in the printer, write something on one side only and when the paper come off the printer you can work out which side gets printed.

Perhaps a civil answer is rocket science for you. The definition of a pompous ass would be???

My Canon and HP want the paper put onto the tray with the print side down. There is probably a little indicator symbol on the tray, possibly showing the corner of a page being turned up.

EDIT: Unrelated comment - When I print some notes for myself or something that doesn't matter much, I go to Properties and choose Fast and Grayscale. It's faster and saves ink.

OK, put a big X on glossy side and put it in either up or down and make a test print, look at the result and then you will know, OK?
