We are selling our old house. And having a tag sale. I will be selling my Canon F-1 and Fd lenses (35 3.5--50 1.4 -135 3.5) filters a vivitar flash and the Zero-Haliburton case. What would be a fair asking price?

IMO, tag sale worst venue for anything of value. Put it on eBay auction starting at 99 cents and let the market set the value. Describe accurately and take good pictures.

In EX condition, I would hold out for $300, $350 if it were an F1n model. Average condition for all about half value.

Would depend on whether it's an F1 or F1n (new) and condition. The 50 f1.4 is a nice lens while the 35 and 135 are a bit more common. I think MTshooter's estimate is spot on.

Here's what they've sold for on ebay. I think a tag sale would get you less.

Not true; if the F1 is in good shape and useable, it is a very fine camera and possibly the best and strongest built camera ever made. I know a friend who knew a photojournalist who put one on the seat at the passenger side and closed the door to go over to the drivers side. Not knowing it, as he closed the passenger door, the camera slipped off the seat and fell on the ground, but the strap got caught in the door. He drove several miles with the camera bouncing on the pavement. When he found it the lens got ripped off, the camera was banged up to hell all over but it still worked perfectly. Find a camera model that will do that today!

I remember when that was my dream camera, never had the money back then, now, nah, I'll stick to digital, I do have some film cameras I cannot part with, but I never even think of using, Bob.

Do homework on e-bay. If you have a local penny saver knock off $100 in the ad and see what happens. Make sure to mention in ad that with the appropriate a mount adapter the lenses will work great on a Sony mirrorless a6... and/or a7... Items sold as package:-).

It's an original F-1 bought in 1975. I very good condition. The glass is near mint. I think I will put a reserve of $200. on the whole package. If I can't get that I will keep it, and maybe donate it to a school for teaching students so they can learn how to use a "real"camera. It is after all one of the best 35mm film cameras ever made.

Tag sales are the worst way to sell photo equipment.

That's a Canon. Nikon didn't make an F1.

$500 and NOT A PENNY LESS.

I have been selling film camera's for close to 20 years. Based on condition reported here, I could work that kit for at least $500... not a penny less.

A true camera enthusiast would get a "hard on" if that kit were on the desk in front of him.

Some of you guys appear to be a proper age to appreciate a Nikon F1 and great primes like this. I can only presume you are new to Photography.

I ran into a young lady at the last car show I attended and she had a Nikon F1 w meter and 50mm f1.2 lens. I almost wet myself when I saw the camera and she was thrilled that I recognized her camera and that I was shooting a Film Canon as well.

Many people are glomming onto these old classics. If I were you, I would keep it and load up some film. Go out and do some real photography.... not digital spray and pray.

$500 or keep it, AND use it. Film and processing are still widely available.!!!
