I am considering purchasing a refurbished or used Nikon d5500 in the near future. I have been looking at KEH and Cameta Camera. I read the recent thread on KEH and feel confident in their products. I have heard that Cameta also has a good reputation, but have not read specific users experience.

I like the fact that their refurbished Nikon cameras come with the standard 90 day Nikon warranty plus another 9 month warranty by Cameta. Also they have a 30 day return policy. All this sounds great. But, I am interested in actual customer experiences.

I am hoping some of you who have purchased cameras or lenses from them will share your experiences, good and bad. I also noticed they often sell the cameras with extra bundled items for the same price as the camera and lens alone. That confuses me. Can someone explain why?

Thanks for your help.

I can say nothing but good about Cameta. They are local to me, like 15 minutes away. It's a weekly stop for me. 90% of my purchases, of cameras and lens, are made there, the other is through B&H.

As far as the bundles, that could be just a additional enticement to purchase the product. I've never purchased anything that came with a bundle. I do doubt that the bundles, in most cases, aren't high quality products.

Thanks so much for your response. I agree, the bundles do not look like very high quality items, but some do include some inexpensive but useful items such as cleaning kits.
I am glad to hear of your positive experiences.

I just received a Refurbished Nikon D7100 from Cameta today as a matter of fact. Camera appears as brand new. I haven't had much time to do a lot with it , yet. Ihave managed to go through some of the main things with it and it seems to be flawless. I had no problems with Cameta at all. They shipped on time, and camera was well packaged. It include the one year guarantee and 30 day return policy. I don't think you will have any problems!!

As a retired "seasoned citizen" on Social Security, I often look to purchase 'used' or 'refurbished' gear. I have bought gear from Cameta and was 100% satisfied with it's condition and quality. I don't usually select their 'bundle' options - mostly inexpensive items just thrown in as further enticement. The main items, however, are top-shelf.

I have purchased both new and refurbished from Cameta and their service is great. Quick delivery and I like their warranty, although I never needed to use it.

I think all of my refurbs came from Cameta. They generally have the best price and include a good warranty. As for the extras, they are generally included with new equipment because manufacturers control prices, and adding those extras is their way of being competitive.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate hearing of your experiences. I feel confident now in buying from either Cameta or KEH. Right now Cameta has the best price on a refurbished d5500.

Now just have to pull that trigger.

When the question of quality vendors is mentioned the phrase "the ABC " comes up. thart stands for Adorama-B&H-Cameta. KEH is also added. Can't go wrong with either of them.

I purchased new and used from Cameta they were excellent experiences. I purchased my D 750 when it first came out there was a recall a week later I called Cameta they said return the Camera and they sent me another new camera in its place and they dealt with the recall issue. Great service friendly and knowledgeable. I also think B&H is a winner faint go wrong

I would not hesitate to do business with Cameta. I have purchased a refurbished Nikon Lens from them in the past and they are excellent to deal with. The lens arrived promptly, as new, and works just fine. No regrets of any kind.
