A hearty little tree surviving in solid rock (Cambrian Shield) taken at Bearkill Provincial Park in Ontario Canada on Sept 8, 2016. Shot with dual ISO, 100-800 and converted to DNG plus minor PP in LR. I had 12 shots of this scene and have whittled it down to 3+1 with the +1 being landscape format. Please choose 1 of the portrait formats and if possible say why. TIA

Difficult to pick a single one...
#1 I suppose.
(A couple of the others I would have put the tree more to the right.)

#3 For me...this is a striking composition with the best light of this series. This is really a marvelous photo of a dramatic scene!

#1 if the tree is meant to be the main subject with enough offset to the foreground. Great shot!

Number 1 - I like the amount and placement of the red highlight in the foreground. It seemed to pull me in more than the other shots.

Thanks to all for the comments. I was partial to #3 myself but #1 is a close second.

#3.....I like the way the light falls across the rocks and just touches the tree.Overall I like the whole composition.

I prefer #1. Looks like a slightly higher magnification and the small tree in the center stands out more. Like the larger tree is shielding the smaller one.

Well now I don't feel so bad about not being able to pick a fav. The results are all across the board and I thank all for their picks and comments. I'll keep all 3 in the mix and use whichever suits the given situation.

I like the first one best, I think. I like the sun bringing out the colours in the rock and the tree is a bit larger. I like the sun pattern on the 3rd? one also, but somehow the first one seems better.

An iconic tree of the park. The correct name though is Killbear Provincial Park.
