To me, it would be more interesting if you had used the same starting image in both cases.

Though I can't claim to want to hang either one on the wall, (they are kind of Andy Warhol flowers and I'm more traditional), I am always pleased to see fearless experiments here amongst us. I commend you for being bold and for having fun and for sharing your fun with us here. Keep at it. You will eventually find a miracle in your experiments, and you'll build on it.
Wanta tell us more about your ideas here? What you're aiming for?
Playing is right! Interesting end results. Like the colors on the first one better.
I love Minnie's reference to fearless
And yes, please talk more about your images: what do
you think are their strengths and why did you post these two in particular?
I look back on some of my first efforts with Topaz Simplify or the Picasa special effects and while some make me wince, many others I still love (a lot)!
The images as presented are not to far short of awful but if this is part of the journey that enables you to know what the sliders do to an image and help you plan for an outcome to produce an artistic result then I would offer you nothing but encouragement. There is more to it than using a few sliders or swamping something in filters so would suggest mapping out in your head what it is you wish to achieve and working with the software to get to that point. There is a great deal of satisfaction in moving an idea to reality.

Other than leaving them as-shot what might you suggest to give a similar experience? S-

I may be having a dumb day here but not with your question at all? What are you asking?

Assuming you do not like the filter selection I was wondering what you might do instead. S-
A rose is a thing of beauty so personally would not try and alter it in this way. I would plan to keep the form and the shape maybe adding some drama. PP is about personal choices. It may be the OP is very happy with what he achieved which does not make him wrong in any way, it would with this subject matter not be a view I shared that is all.
The OP has plenty of comments to reply too should he choose. What his thoughts and expectations were would be interesting to know. If its purely "fun" then that's good, if he wishes to go further where and what direction and can we help him achieve those goals? I have a superb and free set of plug in filters that sometimes work wonders with floral images. Windows only.
By the way young St3v3 I think he posted here for opinion and is probably still waiting for yours. Not sure even the Boss around these parts should be granted the privilege of appearing on a thread and not commenting on the work shown.
Should the OP wish to see this free filter in action let me know and I will post a shot of a flower here before and after. You need Elements or Photoshop and its windows only.

This is very helpful and gives insight into how another would see this and ultimately present it. Thank you so much! S-

Here is the SOOC for 1 of the roses. For some reason the other rose would just not upload (after many, many tries)
