A few weeks ago I went to see a kid's rock band perform at a fair ( a few months ago they hired me to do a photo shoot with them, which I had done and gotten paid for).
The parents are now wanting to buy digital images from this show and I quoted them $50 per image. They now want to know how much would I charge for multiple images and well, I just don't know how to price it.
Every single time I have a query I come here and I usually find answers - love that! but now I can't find an answer to this particular question but I know some of you here will be able to help me.
Thank you in advance!

This is really something you should have figured out before giving the client a price quote. First, determine your bottom price, and with that in mind, negotiate the price with the family. Be fair and reasonable, especially if you think they just may want to hire you again if they are satisfied with your work and pricing.

Try a tiered pricing: Single image $50, 5+ images: $40 each, 10 - 15: $30 each for large format prints. I just bought 14 ea 5x7s of my nephew's Bar Mitzvah for $105 total.

Lizzy, good predicament to be in!!!
You should try to get a message to Fro, because Fro knows! LoL
He is, after all in that line of work. Track him down.
There is one fellow here but I can't remember who that has photographed bands extensively and I believe professionally. Good luck

Awesome!!! Thank you so much!! I had already quoted $50 for the single image and after that is when they asked about multiple images.

The pictures they are interested in are the ones I took when I went to see their show; no quote have been given - that's the question I have, how do I price those.

The way I priced was a decrease as show:
1 - $50.00 (in your case)
2 ~ 5 - $ 45.00 each (50+(4+45)) = $46.00 avg
6 ~ 10 - $ 40.00each (50+180+(5+40)) = $43.00 avg

This way the decrease is not as steep and protects the sales price.

It depends on the size of the print. What size print would $50 get them?

Rongnongno has some good pricing structure as well as another one above.

Full price for the first one, 75% for each additional. That's it. No volume discount, no special packages. That is what I would do, and it's what I have always done. People need to be reminded that photography costs money.

Others may have other opinions.

===============

Yep.

This is what I would do as well. Assuming that the size is that of 8X10. If Smaller - Adjust accordingly. (If you have a 13X19 Printer.... Adjust for that size)

((If the people want a "poster size" you will have to adjust to that size and cost to you for out of house printing.))

Thank you, Ron. :-)

I never discount my work. I provide a fair price. What I will do in order to close a deal is offer a different incentive - perhaps a free 30 min photo session, or a coupon with an expiration date for same that they can use or pass along to someone else.

When you go to a restaurant, do you get a quantity discount on the meals if you bring more guests? When you use a caterer for a large event, do you get a discount based on the number of people? Hardly. You might get coffee, an after dinner drink, maybe a dessert comp'd, but there is no benefit to lowering your price.

The rationale behind the coupon is to increase business using a promotional consideration, and it works beautifully.

Does that mean 75% discount?
