Have any of ya'll had experience using Sony's repair service. I was in Pittsburgh, PA visiting family over the weekend. At some point, my Alpha 850 body took a hit. Now the LCD display won't show the exposure/setting information & the tab that hold the battery in place is broken.

I have used them on a Sony video camera. It was a flat fee, and they turned it around in a week. I think you have to contact them first if I remember correctly.

I too have used them lately. Give sony a call and they will email you some paperwork to send along with the camera that goes to Precision Camera in CT if parts are available it is back in about a week or a little more. Something had to be ordered for mine and it took a month.

I have not used Sony/Precision personally but when I was looking to get my Sony A77ii repaired I read some negative reports on them so I ended up going to Royal Camera Service based on a recommendation I read.
They did a good job at what seemed to me to be a reasonable price. The only down side was the wait on the Sony part my camera needed.
Having said that, I have not seen anything negative about Sony/Precision lately just wanted to give you an another option.

The only downside about camera repairs is that most are so very expensive, regardless of brand. Sometimes the repair cost can nearly match the camera's total worth. A friend used Sony/Precision in CT a while back and he was satisfied with the service. Good luck.

Well I don't have a Sony camera, but Olympus used Precision camera to repair my EM-5 camera. My EM-5 camera and grip was sent them. When the camera and grip were returned to me, the grip was broken. The pin that attaches the grip to the camera was bent. I called precision camera and they had me buy a new grip which they reimbursed me.
Find a local authorized repair shop.

Nick, I just noticed that you are in Ohio, Royal Camera is in the Chicago area if that makes any difference.

I checked with my favorite camera shop here this morning. Seems we have a very capable repair shop in town. Camtronics has been in business since 1974. They are a authorized Canon, Nikon, & Sony repair center. I donated my severely damaged Alpha 850 to the cause for any parts that need to be replaced. Should have it back by the end of next week. At least I don't have to mail it to anybody.
