Hello,
I am running Windows 10 with Photoshop 15.5. When I try to use the Nik collection it says I must buy. I click on that link and am informed that it is now free for download. This is where my problem occurs.

When I click the download link it will install for a few seconds then I get a message and new screen that says "The Nik collection is preventing your computer from shutting down" When I shut down the computer of course the Nik collection is not installed. If I ignore the message the Nik collection installs to about 75% and then freezes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Bill

If you have the Nik Collection on your hard drive now, then uninstall it. Next, restart your computer. Try to download NC again. (Make sure you have all programs off.)

Check for Photoshop CC updates, too -- maybe do this step first.

I am sorry and I really don't mean to be rude or start an argument. But, we so often see this kind of reply on this forum when some one asks for help. Telling them you do not have a problem does NOTHING for them. They DO have a problem. If you don't and you don't know how to help , best say nothing. Saying you don't have the problem offers nil assistance. Sorry, just had to get it off my chest.

If you have a firewall it may be blocking the install. I had that problem and shut it down while I installed it into my PSElements.
Let us all know if that works.

You are absolutely right. About as helpful as telling us that the "Brown Truck" is on the way. Sucks.

PLUS, some anti-virus programs will block new installs. Best to shut everything down while installing, including antivirus software.

JUST UNINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS and then reinstall. Make sure LR and PS are off.

Have fun.

You took the words right out of my mouth! The Brown Truck will be arriving here shortly. I'll be receiving some Tru-Oil stain. I'm setting up my tripod and camcorder to record an Unboxing video.

Do you always get the message about shutting down? It sounds like an update is trying to force a shutdown.
