Two new fawns

THIS IS A STORY ABOUT MY FINDING TWO NEWLY BORN FAWNS IN OUR ORCHARD TODAY.

I was out at the house ABOUT 9 AM, getting ready to water some trees when I noticed a deer standing 50 feet away just outside the orchard which has a 6 foot deer fence all around. I was going to walk towards her but thought to myself, she’s probably hot standing there so I’ll let her alone.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw a movement inside the orchard and realized it was two fawns moving around. I was about 40 feet away but they looked funny. I thought they were sick but they moved towards the mama deer but pushed into the fence from the inside, remember, she was outside.
It dawned on me, (it takes some time when you see something you're not expecting), to realize the mama just birthed the two fawns but she was able to hop the fence but they were stuck inside.
I walked over to the orchard and opened the man gate but mama was on the opposite side of the orchard so I went to that side to open the bigger tractor gate. When I walked by the fawns, maybe 15 feet away, they started to come towards ME! Now I know I don’t look like no mama deer. I took these two pics using my cell phone while walking to open the big gate.

Pics are not the greatest as I kept moving so they wouldn't get near me.

These two guys were born so recently that they were still wet from the mama. They were very shaky trying to stand and could hardly walk and fell down when moving. The can in one picture is just a #10 can (maybe 6 inches in diameter) so that shows how small they were. One fawn saw me moving past them and started to come to me but I got the hell out of the orchard so they couldn’t get near me. Watched from about a hundred feet away and the mama saw the tractor gate was open so she walked into the orchard and one fawn staggered over to her and started nursing. The other one was too weak and just laid in a shady spot. After about 10 minutes the shaky fawn got over to the mama and all three were laying in the shade when I left as I didn'™t want to cause problems for them.

Was a really great morning.

How cool is that!!!!!!!! It is a good thing you didn't allow them to get close as they just might have imprinted on you as "MaMa". What an awesome experience that must have been. WOW! I think these shots a GREAT if for no other reason but the experience, but they really are good just the same.

Looks like their learning to walk. I hope they have a long life. Shooting with the camera is better then with a gun. You come home with a trophy and they live to see another day.....Rich
