Anyone have an idea of what kind of droppings snakes leave? When they clear out, will it look like a bird convention has been there?

The really are a pretty snake. Their scales are iridescent under full sun. They have a very laid back personality, don't seem to mind being handled at all. ...... Coot

Are you certain they are Water Moccasins (=Cottonmouths) or Ancistrodon piscivorous scientifically, sometimes placed in genus Agkistrodon (older name). I can't tell for sure from the photo, but look between the nostril and the eye for a pit; if one is present, the snake is poisonous for sure. Of course, looking for the pit can involve getting a bit close....But then, some, probably most, could be harmless water snakes. Those do bite, but aren't poisonous.

Obviously, cannot see the head - characteristic of pit vipers - but just judging from a) coloration, b) relatively short, heavy body, c) not similar to most other water snakes, I think that most are the cottonmouth.

I just passed along the picture and what I was told they were. But, from the water moccasins I have seen they certainly look like they are. We have plenty of them here in Texas so it wouldn't surprise me.
