How would I find out the number of aperture blades my lens has? Canon 18-270mm is what I have.

Look on the canon site for your lens, then under specifications.

To the best of my knowledge, Canon does not make an 18-270, although there are rumors they are designing one.
The Tamron for Canon 18-270 has 7 blades.

You can either take the lens off the camera, close the aperture down and count them or you can Google ! :)

Just some advice. If you had taken the text of this post (Inserting Tamron for Canon of course), and entered it in Google or Bing or whatever search engine you use, you would have had your answer immediately instead of first asking us and waiting until one of us performed the exact same search and then posted answer for you.

Yeah, what he said, plus finding the answer by yourself, and believe me, it's really easy to do, will eliminate a whole bunch of people, who I'm pretty sure don't read other responders responses, from delivering the same answer.

But then that would take a lot of the fun out of belonging to this on-line community.

Right. That's exactly why I asked here. I know I could have Googled it.

Wait. You knew you could just as easily gotten the info on your own but you decided to post the query here anyway to get someone else to do it for you? Am I understanding you correctly?

I thought being in a forum, it was acceptable to ask a question (no matter how foolish). Sorry....no more stupid questions....BTW, if you thought it was foolish, why did take so much time to attack me?

Hey I am glad to do the research for you. Just don't ask me impossible questions like "Which camera should I buy?"
