I have the Manfrotto 393 Gimbal and a 681B monopod with this adapter plate assembly and I use it with my big lenses.
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=manfrotto+357&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ps I would like something more solid than the 234RC Q2 Tilt to mount this on for my 681b mono. It is a nice assembly, but I need the tilt feature for birding with the mono.
Thoughts to use my existing assemblies would be appreciated, need something solid to mount the 357 on to a tilt for my mono.
The 393 Gimbal gives horizontal rotation along with up and down tilt just as it is.
Have you tried the 393 directly to the monopod? What is your purpose in using the 234RC Q2?

Please reread my post. Pretty clear question.
You asked for thoughts and I provided mine. The 393 directly mounted to a monopod is plenty sturdy enough and it has tilt built into it.

I second that. Very good control with my Sigma 150-600 Sport, tilting with a couple of fingers.

Thank you for your thoughts. Seriously, I never heard of anyone putting a gimbal on a monopod, I'll keep that in mind. My question was pertaining to the use of a 357 assembly on a mono with the ability to tilt for birding. You know,up in the trees or flying...I own and use both tools. It so happens that the same assembly comes on the 393 and I wanted to maintain the interchangeability between the mono and the tripod without changing anything.
Well, I have used the 393 on a mono and tri pod without complaints. Someone posted that they use a tripod as a mono which gives the ability to let it stand if need be.

And did you dismiss fore play before you actually tried it too?
My apologies for not posting this in the attic. Either I did not properly state my question or your reading comprehension needs improvement.
Oh, you post that drunk crap, edit it out and then quote my response to your silly drunk statement? Grow up kid.
Most would probably have to be drunk to put a gimbal with a big lens on a mono, but that's okay. Thank you for trying to answer my question,kid....
Yes,that would be a winner, but I don't think it will accept the 357 plate, though I'm not sure. I'm really in the dark on the different mounts and wish I had started with arca compatible mounts. I really don't want to start over and it would also require some mods to the 393.
Thanks again for your help!
I wouldn't use a gimbal on a mono-pod but there are a lot of people that do. Would it be possible to order an adapter plate (arca) from RRS and still maintain the use of what you already have?

I would not use a gimbal on a mono either.
Thank you,all set.

I have used and recommend using a Manfro 3063 video fluid head on your monopod and your plate - I do not recommend a gimbal head on a monopod - and I know some use it that way.
