I enjoy shooting macro, though I seldom get the opportunity to get to macro level. This is approx 1:1. This is a juvenile Sharptailed Snake. The entire snake is approx 6 inches in length. And yes, that is a drop of water under the head.

A friend of mine caught a nest of them in his yard the other day when cleaning out the debris in his yard. They now have a home in our yard. They are really enjoyable creatures to watch. They live most of their lives under the leaf litter.
Enjoy.

According to Wiki the snake uses its sharp tail to hold prey, such as slugs, for some purpose, say eating :?: So OP your assignment is to get some shots of the snake dining. :-)

They were a pain in the a$$ to shoot. I even chilled them and they are very tolerant of lower temps since they spend most of their time under the soil.

Yes it was, Douglass. I was quite pleased to have them introduced into my yard. The friend lives about two miles from my place, so the snakes should be very happy in my yard. Plenty of debris for breeding and food sourcing. I remember seeing them in large numbers when I was a kid.

I am now working on a Southern Alligator Lizard at the moment. I released the snakes about an hour ago.
