M81 Bode's Galaxy is fairly faint with the Moon & light pollution it was
pretty washed out and this is the best I could do with it for now.
When I go to the Mountain May 7th I will do my best to improve
my imaging techniques. I'm posting 2 images, one without the Sharpening and one with.
I gain a lot of detail but at a cost. I have to learn how to control that.
120 sec exposures 10 lights, darks and bias files stacked in Celestron AFX program.

I like both of them, Craig.
But I prefer the unsharpened example.
The sharpening seems to have washed out some of the detail in the dust cloud. (which is probably actually stars)
It's great to see you up and taking pictures again! :-D

Thank you very much Sonny, I prefer the one I should have produced.
I didn't save the images as I went thru the process so I could go back and rework them.
The clouds are rolling in for the rain this week so I had to tear it all down, that makes me sad.

Number one is much more uniform on texture. Have you tried denoise rather than sharpen? Or did I misread what you typed?

I know the conditions are bad with that big light source in the sky, but you are getting it. I am wondering how stacking in DSS compares to stacking in AFX? With the tips Edward has been throwing our way, I wonder what Photoshop could do with it after DSS?

I have not tried DSS with any images from the Camera yet.

I think we both need an Observatory.
I'd like mine with a napping area.... ;)

Let me begin by saluting your captures and supporting files! The results are very good.

I have a question - what kind of camera are you using?

Ed, he is just getting his feet wet with the Celestron KAF 8300 camera that he just purchased. There's some learning curve, but he he is climbing the curve quite well.

Amen... He is doing well. When I started using my OSC CCD I was binning 2x2 not realizing that would kill any color. All my pic were b/w and I wondered if I had a monochrome camera.

Thank you Jim H, I am studying CCD's as much as I can.
