I have this image that I cannot get the color right on printing. It is a rose that has petals edged in white. It is somewhat of a rare rose. I want to get the right color of a deep burgundy while keep the white clear and not muted. It seems when I get the color of the rose right the white edges become muted. In printing the color is still not quite right - almost there. I print on an Epson R2880 which gives beautiful prints.
What would you do to this image to get the coloration correct?

See how the white is not crystal clear.

Thank you for working on this. I did print it and the white tips on the petals are better but there was a gray cast to the image and the color is still not right for the rose.

Depends on what PP software you use.

If you have access to PhotoShop, you can work with EXPOSURES, Shadow / Highlights ...etc and get different effects.

I also wonder if you shot that pic in RAW ??

That way, you can really control the final outcome.

Here's my take on it. I used levels in Photoshop.

If you shot this in raw, you may be able to recover the details in the highlights. Otherwise, there is just so much one can do. Those who worked on this already did a nice job of recovering some of the detail

Is this more what you were looking for. In PE first correct for color cast by clicking area you want pure white. The play with both saturation and luminance for each of the colors in the hue/saturation tool. Don't skip any colors. Eventually you will probably get what you want.

I have had some luck shooting difficult color flowers in HDR. The challenge is getting the flower to be absolutely still. By shooting the different images they each pick up a range of color tones and the combination will approach what your eye saw. It also helps when the lighting conditions are not ideal. Of course its too late for this shoot but you might try it next time.

Lots of good advice so far. Not sure if you are saying that the print colours are not the same as you see on screen. If that is the case you need to profile your display and printer. That way you will get the same colour printing that you see on screen.

Yes, I have Photoshop CS5 and I shot it in raw. Looking for suggestions on how to manage the color.
