Bill Hudson and I made our first Spring outing to Huntington Beach Central Park and neighboring Shipley Nature Center. Much of the flora was not yet blooming, and the insect fauna was quite minimal, save for one mature female Graybird grasshopper. We found no caterpillars on known hostplants.
Bill photographed hummingbirds, while I photographed their nectar source: purple Pride of Madeira (Echium candecans).

Thanks for showing these. You are a master at Macro. What else can I say, but wonderful.
Could your yellow plant on bark be a Jelly Fungus, perhaps Tremella mesenterica?
That Pride of Madeira is just beautiful.
A good series of Macro photography.
Well taken.

I LOVE number three, Douglass. Outstanding focus and clarity.
Super series. Great variety. Number 3, Pride of Madeira is my favorite.
 Like the Pride of Madeira. I understand it's invasive in California? Sure is pretty.
Also love the Pride of Madeira.
Great photographs Douglass, up to your usual excellence. Well done.
