Haha!! It's okay. I dont need up to 12 whatever.. but know my D3100 has Hi1, and Hi2, Although I rarely use them...there have been times they were necessary. A noisy photo is better than blurry :). As far as flash, I admittedly know nothing about external flashes. In the past 4 months i've been trying to learn as much as I can with the equipment I have, and because I don't do portraits or people that often, I'm not in any rush to jump into flash. I'm sure it will come someday...
Maybe the D90 is what i should be checking out then. I'd REALLY love the D7000 though, haha.
Maybe I'll do the 18 months no financing from Best Buy :)

I think you would be MUCH happier with the D7000 for around $300 more. It twice the camera of the D90.

I never had a D90, but the Difference between my D70 and D7000 is simply amazing.
Soon people will be throwing away D7000s as they all buy D800s. I almost Did, but then I came to my Denses.

Sounds like the pixel wars have become ISO wars.
The manufacturers ran out of pixels to add.

Back to the OP, here's an idea. You should be able to get a D200 for around $450 on craiglslist or less. Not cheap at all, just inexpensive.

I've never set my D90's ISO above 800. With an f/2.8 lens, I've never had to.

right now im playing with indoor basketball...gyms lights differ greatly...i shoot 18-55 or 55=200...i set iso 800 to 3200...shutter 500...and use ev...pictures are not pro...but they are more than useable...i have d3000...
