Most people know the size of a dime. Those in the UK, the old Pence is about the same size. A few decades ago the dime was much larger. Today try buying a cup of coffee with a dime. Back then a dime would buy a cup of coffee for you and your bud plus refills. How it has shrunk. No wonder we need a macro lens today just to take a photo of one.
