What happened? I was taking some pictures at the Hospice Hope run today. I just left the camera in program mode (d3000) so I could could just get some pictures without fumbling with...

I was taking some pictures at the Hospice Hope run today. I just left the camera in program mode (d3000) so I could could just get some pictures without fumbling with settings. Some of these pictures are so noisy. I did have the camera at a high iso setting from a previous venture. forgot to reset it however I thought the automatic modes would override that and pic its own settings. Is this even an iso issue? I tried to look at the exif data but no iso was stated. Thanks is advance

I'm guessing it is because the ISO was set to 3200:

File size: 241291 bytes (641x800, 3.8bpp, 6x)
EXIF Summary: 1/4000s f/10.0 ISO3200 135mm (35mm eq:202mm)

File name: 1334427095227-dsc_0678.jpg
File size: 166010 bytes (800x536, 3.1bpp, 8x)
EXIF Summary: 1/4000s f/8.0 ISO3200 145mm (35mm eq:217mm)

Edit: I'm using EXIF Viewer by Ali Ozer (Mac OS-X only)

Either I have a "miracle monitor" or there is, perhaps, less noise than you are seeing...?

MT Shooter Loc: Montana

The AUTO mode will not adjust ISO, it still functions at whatever ISO rating you have manually set the body to.

Well, it was set on "hi". I did not know it would go as high as 3200. Thanks for checking it out.

I'm gonna start carrying a check list of all these things I need to have right. All my co workers expect me to turn out fabulous images. This group of pics was just embarrassing. You can only hid just so much in PP. Thanks for the info.

It is most noticeable on picture #1 on her face. She is one of our Hospice Doctors.

Nikon... I got most of the noise out, and resharpen and doesn't look too bad. I'll post it if you want me to. Let me know.

That's one of my common issues when frequently moving from indoors to outdoors during a shoot. I keep forgetting to check the iso.

Remember the ISO is your film speed. (old term) Make it the First ''thang'' you set on you camera EVERYTIME. :D

I did something like that too today....my camera went back to a default setting after changing the batteries...took me a good part of the morning fighting with it before I realized iso was at 64 and WB was on auto...UGH. I was giving serious consideration to the list too.
