I have a new Logitech mouse I use with my laptop. It works good in general but it's to slow and imprecise for me to work with in Lightroom and Photoshop. Hopefully someone knows what model would work better than this.

I use a Logitech M705, and have a sometime. It fits my hand well, and is precise. There are probably better ones, but that works for me.

Serious and honest answer, .... Consider getting a small digital tablet and stylus for editing (a Wacom, for instance). You will get the most precision this way; far more than you will get from any mouse.

The Logitech mouse software (driver?) has adjustments for speed, sensitivity and precision.

Which one do you have and which one do you wish you had? I want one bad but get confused over the choices.

Another mouse will be just as slow. You have to adjust the speed in COTROL PANEL under DEVICES AND PRINTERS.

I have an older Intous 4 (large). What I would love is the Cintiq 27HDQ Touch! :-D

Wow! Didn't even know they made those. I've been drooling over the "Wacom Intuos Pro Pen and Touch Medium Tablet" but the $300 keeps me using a mouse.

I have the Logitech MX 700 cordless mouse, bought it a few years back. Seem to remember one reviewer calling it the Lamborghini of mice and I certainly have been very pleased with it. It could of course be superseded by something better but I think it can still be purchased through Amazon.com (not UK) Worth reading the reviews on this site.

My first Logitech experience was with a "pen mouse" probably 20 years ago, and I still consider Logitech to be the mouse "Cadillac". I currently have a wireless M185. It's supposed to go for 5 months on a battery, but I never turn it off and after 18 months it's still going on a single AA battery. (And only $20).

Been using Logitech trackball for years (since the first clunky model) and have never had any issue.

When using a mouse with a laptop you are exposed to more dust and crap that with any other device and that rodent inners to be killed (cleaned) on regular basis. THAT would be my first move.

My second, as many suggested here (after cleaning) is to adjust the cursor options in control panle

My third would be to ditch the mouse for a trackball and adjust the options in control panel of course, one does not exclude the other

My fourth option would also be to invest in a tablet as well as keeping using the mouse.

About tablets and laptop, you got a laptop for a reason so getting a mediums sized tablet is not a good idea. Beside the size a tablet means you will have to 'retrain' your brain in order to use a tablet efficiently. Not all are capable of using one for that very reason.

Now THAT is a full disclosure suggestion, in cost order.

The Cintiqs are top of the line for graphic artists and run a couple of thousand dollars. Not really necessary for photo editing.

Despite my praise for Logitech, above, I put out the $300 yesterday for a Wacom Intuos Pro medium at Best Buy. Usually not my favored vendor but they're in their "holiday return period". Instead of the usual 15 day return policy, they'll take returns until Jan 5th. It's like a 60 day trial period, so despite hearing how some folks have trouble getting used to the way it works, I decided to try it.

I'm currently working on a fairly detailed composite, and the difference in speed and precision is amazing! After one day, I don't see returning it.

But as Rong pointed out, probably not the best choice for a laptop. The tablet's as big as my laptop, but I'm using it with a 24 inch monitor. And yes, the cordless mouse and keyboard are still active. Each one has it's advantages.

BTW, here's what I'm working on. Bass player for a friend's band quit and threatens to sue if they use any pictures of him, and I'm the only one with pics of their first gig with the new guy.

What I had to work with.
What I had to work with....

This took a couple of hours using the mouse.

This a "rough draft" of where this is going.
