He's Gone! But Not Before a Final Shoot.
I released my spider today, but before I did I took the time for one last shoot.

What kind of spider is this?

This is a female Phidippus regius, common name "Regal Jumping Spider". This is the largest jumping spider found in Florida, and the first of this particular species that I have come across. They are quite camera-friendly, as the are very large and slow moving, compared to the smaller jumpers.
thats a beauty,nice shootin
Thanks everyone for your kind comments.
A beautiful fellow, I bet she is happy to be free again, to look for a mate, perhaps.

Hope she finds one. I released her on a potter's table in the backyard.

Holy Spider,
Is it me , or does she look like she is blushing a little :) or just a little shy?
These photos making my wallet shiver. I am so digging macro photos of insects, just not enough gold yet for this. Seeing their world so close it give you another perspective of how life looks down there.
I love this set.
All are excellent, but I really like images #3 & #5.
