I'm sure someone, probably your mother, told you that when you were old enough to understand. It was good advice and should probably be heeded now but is tough to follow when the sunrise is somewhat dramatic.
Here are some shots that show the sun competing with some smog from the recent wildfires. The effect is the result of a "natural" filter which enhances some of the colors at dawn.

As lousy as my eyes are these days, I'm not sure I could see it if I looked straight at it, lol.
But at least I can see these images, just beautiful, and certainly agree with Doddy about number four. Super!

What a nice series Vicki. Beautiful color that is not overstated. They're all tops but No.4 is particularly excellent, it's the composition in my opnion.
