Just a few more.
I had to run these through dehaze in lightroom . They were shot from the top of the mountain through heavy haze this past weekend.
The question is what could I have done to keep from blowing out the sun? Would a filter have done it? and if so which one?

Gorgeous shots. Personally, I like the sun to be a little blown out. But you could use a graduated neutral density filter. Lee Filters has a pretty good reputation; not cheap, but I keep reading that they are worth the $$$.

Not sure what you mean by blown out
Was the sun an orange ball and it's too white now?
Or was it as it appears?
ND filter and slower shutter would get the orange back.
Love that last shot.
Light+composition great!

I love the colors, the sky and the light!

You have a major difference in brightness between the center of the sun and the rest of the scene. Lowering exposure would only make everything else too dark. Grad ND filter would have to be mighty strong and then it would darken the upper part of your image significantly too.

Do you shoot in raw, or do any edits to jpg? Looks like #3 could be darkened just at the brightest spot.

Other suggestions: try for when sun is partially obscured by clouds, or compose so it is smaller in the frame.

Thank you debbie. I see you are from Boston? If I've chosen the correct file to attach , this is a view of Boston from the top Of Mt. Wachusett (Just north of Worcester)

THX Matt. You would have loved to see all the bike riders on the mt that day. A couple hundred at least. The road to the top has been vastly improved and all the riders seemed to be really enjoying it.

Thank you for looking and for the tips. The sun is to brilliant in my photo, however it was getting dark , so I'm thinking the camera was overexposing. I'm going to sit with more time, earlier in the evening and with a couple of filters the next time.

Thx for looking and your suggestions. I will try them all. I took 600 shots that evening and the sun is too bright in all of them. I guess because ....it was!
 I do shoot in RAW and because it was so hazy that day I ran the photos you see through the dehaze in LightroomCC. All new to me.I'm not sure I like it. Changes everything in the photos.
