Zero-ing in on KX-800 Diffusion, part 1

I've had what I thought were a few good ideas to get nice even diffusion with my concave set up on the new KX-800 but, the ideas I thought were best (clear plastic diffuser), made little difference in getting the light spread before the main diffusion panel. These are SOOC jpegs zeroed out in camera. Flash at 1/16 both sides and positioned very close to the main panel. No pre diffusion used as I'm trying to keep the light transmission as high as possible to use the shortest flash duration.

Now to do a field test where it really matters. Maybe at least a Jumper on Sunday. Marbles are sorely lacking :|

1). Plastic diffusion material I had planned on using in front of the flash heads

I need to see an optician. I must be seeing things Bill. It just can't be true. A dust spot at about 8.30.

I am still having a little problem with hot spots from my flashes. Am I understanding correctly that you are using a double diffusion on your flashes? This is giving me some ideas...

All I really did was add another layer of very thin foam and sandwiched a paper towel between them. I'm not even certain the second layer of foam did much. The plastic diffusion material didn't do what I expected but, is still on the table for possible mods.

One layer of foam and paper towel added to this one http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-329232-1.html simplistic low tech prevails yet again ;) :D

Now I need to see how this set-up works with the 150. These tests were done with the 105. It's my intention to make this as small as possible without giving up any lighting quality.

Just don't look too closely at mine, I have got loads 'cause I keep changing lenses. I guess I could do with another body.

If my camera body was in the shape that my old body is in, I would trade it in for sure! ;-)
