I looked out the window this morning as I was getting ready to leave for work and I saw this guy hanging on the front of the playset in my backyard. I quickly put my Tammy onto my T3i and took 4 shots handheld at 600 mm. This was the last and best of what I shot. I did not crop this at all. I did some basic brightening of the overall picture as the light was still pretty low and I had to shoot at 1600 ISO. It may not be perfect but it is my first.

If you're like me Andrea, I'd be so excited about seeing this bird at all that any photo would be OK, and this is a pretty good one.

Bob you are so right about that. I was so excited this morning that I didn't care what the quality was. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this one given the conditions. thank you for stopping in Bob. I always appreciate your visits and comments.

Thank you Jimmy for stopping in to look and the nice comment. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this one turned out given the haste in which I had to work. After this one he flew away.

Thank you Tony for the "very nice shot" comment. I think they are interesting as well and did not even know there were any in this area until just about a week ago. Seeing this one in my backyard this morning was a real thrill. Thank you so much for the visit.

Thank you jederick for stopping in to look and commenting. I was so surprised this morning to see him and was sure he would catch my movement and leave before I got the lens on my camera. This was the only shot that was not blurry. Thank you for the thumbs up.

Thank you Bret for stopping in and commenting. I was shooting in manual as well so I had to work out the settings quickly.

Thank you Michael for the visit and the nice comments. He has left his artistry all over the top beam of the playset. I guess it is a good thing my daughter does not play on it anymore. I had only seen one around here prior to this morning and did not know if I would be able to ever get a shot at one. Sometimes you get lucky.

Thank you Goldwinger for the visit and the thumbs up. I wasn't sure when I took it if it would be any good because I was handholding the big Tammy although I did have my elbows anchored on my mantel.
