Been looking for one of these. One finally came flitting across my desk. That thing is downright dangerous.

Only you would catch that.
Yes, I have been using concave diffusion with LED panels.
For this shot, I added large frosted panels between LEDS and concaves with the intention of reducing highlights on the compound eyes. Failed to accomplish that but it did smooth out the ocelli.
The whole stack ended up low contrast and underexposed and CombineZP was very unhappy with it.
Charging the battery for a second try.
I thought the reflections looked different... Frosted panels huh.. I bought frosted glass "bulbed" holders of some sorts from the thrift store. Looks like they are candle holders as they have a flat base and open top. Been meaning to try them out on overhead hi-mag stack. Figure I should get some serious wrap around light just not sure if the "frost" dense enough for good diffusion. I'll be curious to see what happens on your end...

Living in a big city, you may be able to find a colorless spray on frosting made by a specialty paint company called Krylon.
Made for application too both glass and plastic and available at hobby shops.
Reshot at 1:1 to show a bit more of the animal
Interesting shot for me to see. On download I imagine I can see a cute little maggot looking out from a hole - a bit below and to the right of the horn on top of his nose.
