The Smallest Butterfly in the World

Very small butterflies are the most difficult to photograph, because they are skittish, and the camera lens must get quite close to capture a true macro-photograph. The smallest in North America, and described as the smallest butterfly in the world, is the Western Pygmy-Blue (Brephidium exilis).
