For my flower shooting, I always use out board flash with defuser, set the camera on manual mode with aperture from f11-f22. This will darken the back ground and get the flower sharp in focus. I entered the same photo in 2 different county fairs. One judge gave me a blue ribbon and commented "good use of soft focus" the other gave me a 3rd place and commented "blurry out of focus".

what lens I recently got a canon 100mm Macro and it is wonderful
i got it used on craigslist for $300 but it takes wonderful picutres. tripod at SF botanical gardens
