Lacewing in the garden at night.

When taking the dog out last thing last night I found this Lacewing resting on a grubby white door.

I blew my sensor yesterday but this is not sufficient and I need to get a cleaning kit. I've watched loads of videos and feel confident to do this with the proper gear. Before I order it do you think VSGO cleaning Kit is OK or can you suggest a better option. I can purchase from Amazon UK or Spain - no photography shops in my area. Thanks in advance.

I have only used "Visible Dust" swabs and liquid (for grease spots)and have been pleased with them. Available from Adorama and B&H or direct online from their website. Haven't tried any others, mind is not that versatile at this point.

Thanks Don, I live in Spain and the shops in USA do not tend to deliver her, something to do with taxes. But I expect what you use is available on line.

I use the Sensor Solutions swabs. They are specific to different models-- but I don't know what difference it could make as I believe all of the ASP-C sensors in Nikons are made by Sony-- and I would think they are the same size. I purchased swabs for my D-300 but haven't yet used them on my D7100. It's initially more intimidating than it actually is. JMHO.

Thanks for that info. Allen, I have watched so much on Youtube videos that I feel I could do it in my sleep but actually doing it might be another thing.

Great photos, Brenda. Very sharp.
I can't help with the sensor cleaning. I took both of my cameras to my local camera shop last year and had both sensors cleaned for free. As I bought the cameras there it was free. From what I have heard it is something that can be done by anyone as long as you take your time and are careful.

Just be sure NOT to soak the camera in soapy water for a day or so and then hose it down afterward. That method has proven to not work.

You did well to get them done for free, I understand it is quite expensive normally. Too late about the cleaning system, it is already in the water, but with some salt for good measure :)

I am soooooo sorry. I forgot to tell you to add salt. Fortunately you figured it out on your own. Salt tends to preserve the good cleaning that the soapy water has done for you.

Nice shots Brenda, tiny eye to draw a bead on. You did well, hitting focus. Overall details are good. Like Allen, I use Sensor Solution Swabs. If you go that route be aware they come in two sizes, APC-S and FF.

Dennis and your banter reminds me when I was aboard a recording vessel in the Gulf of Mexico and the recorder was inundated with seawater. Luckily we were enroute to the prospect so the system was powered down. We spent the better part of a week cleaning system boards with distilled water on the back deck. Managed to get the system up and running again but the system always seemed haunted by electrical/electronic phantoms that would pop up from time-to-time.
