Bill's recent post on lichen/moss, reminded me of a shot I had from years ago. We get lots of growth on trees around here & I had found this on a branch that had fallen during a storm. Not stacked though. Have to find the original though as this is a cropped shot & won't enlarge.
Wonderful, "lichenscape", "macroscape"?
;-)
It does look a bit like a seascape.
Looks like a lettuce farm in central California.

You are obviously a city boy. You need to get a little farm dirt under your fingernails.

Um!, excuse me Sir, I grew up in the Midwest, and besides, everyone knows that lettuce shouldn't have little black spikey things sticking out of it...geez!

Lettuce is not grown in the mid-West. It is mostly a California coastal produce, grown from Oxnard to Gilroy.
The head of lettuce that end up in the grocery store produce department is only the very center (about half) of the plant.

Where in the Midwest? That term is used differently depending on where you are from. It can be anywhere from Ohio to Colorado.

More range than that! Both Chicago and St, Louis are mid-West cities, and most of their inhabitants have never seen a cow, a silo, or even a tractor.
Hey, I hail from North Central Wisconsin.... About 200 miles slightly Northwest of Green Bay. Does that make me a Midwesterner ?

Various places in Mo., Ks., Ok., Ky., with a three year break in Germany, also lived in Arkansas, Texas and Colorado. I don't know if Mi. counts or not?
