Some really "old" pictures, some very "unique" pictures, and a couple that probably qualify as being "unbelievable"

Some really "old" pictures, some very "unique" pictures, and a couple that probably qualify as being "unbelievable". It's probably going to take me all evening to get these all on here, as I want to get the headings on each individual picture so you'll know what you're looking at while you're looking at it. Unfortunately, the way this website is programmed you can only get three pictures in the format before you post it, than after you post those three, you have to add any additional pictures one at a time, and there's a time limit that doesn't lend it's self to careful organization of pictures and titles.

They are all very good but #15 is Very good and artistic as well as informative. She would be about 73 by now and their union is still trying to collect for letting 'go' at age 52.

I can tell you one thing, George, it was by far the most "nerve wracking" one that I've ever posted!

What I'm guessing that many people are unaware of, you can spend all day typing up and "organizing" a post if you want to, but when you include more than three pictures in a post, you MUST "post" what you have organized, then start adding the rest of the pictures one at a time, and you only have 1 hour to find all of the pictures in your file, and type up all of the information about each picture. From the minute you post, after 60 minutes it "times out", and any remaining pictures OR typing can not be added; I'm a very slow typist, but fortunately I have a proclivity for organization; I spent some time before I started organizing how I was going to do it in my head; once I posted and the clock started, I finished in 42 minutes! (Sweating, I might add! )

Oogh! Didn't know the difficulties involved. Surely there must be a better - read easier - way to do it. Any hope that Admin, etc, could furnish some relief? Still, many thanks for the excellent pix you posted.

George

Why thank you, Jack!

The real "winner" is an amazing fellow up in Chicago who is the only human being I know of who spends more time than I do, rooting around on the internet, coming up with all manner of "very seldom if ever seen" photos of all sorts of interesting things!

Here I have read several books about the late, great Ansel Adams, and had even seen a few old photos of him, but I was blown away when I saw how crooked his nose was his whole life, and also I had no idea that he was actually in the great San Francisco earthquake.

The other picture that "floored me" was the aerial view of Ford Island in Pearl Harbor, taken from one of the Japanese attacking planes; who would have even dreamed that they would ever see a picture like that?

It's not actually difficult, George, it's just that the 60 minute time limit forces you to do something that requires a whole bunch of repetitive "steps", very rapidly, and doing anything rapidly lends it's self to making slip ups. I can't complain at all about the software used and the way the UHH website is designed; in fact, of all of the websites that I'm familiar with, I think the way this one is designed is actually a "masterpiece"! BTW....I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures, George! I really enjoyed them myself when I received them.

So the other story that his nose was out of joint to accommodate a camera pressed to face has been debunked?

Just as well because I made it up. Just thought it a more befitting story than a boring old earth quake.

I don't think Ansel Adams had to worry about a camera "pressed against his face" Jack, as I'm thinking that Ansel did all of his work with a big old wooden view camera sitting on a tripod; (the big 35 mm craze was yet to come along when Ansel was active. )

Those are great! Very diverse. Thanks! My grandmother was 10 during the SF quake. She had some amazing stories. I inherited a large cherry "secretary" that survived.

Ya know, you could have made more than one post. Might have been less stress?
