I have seen some interesting images of salt in the past so, I thought I would give it a shot. It turns out to be a little trickier that I expected (at least for me). I even tried lighting from below among other things.
I would love to see the tiny saw they use to cut these tiny blocks.
Mostly just trying to get familiar with using Mirror-up.
And yes, I see my sensor needs cleaning

Very fun shots. Thanks for sharing. Hey, you might wanna try it in black acrylic.
Check this thread out. There's some good info if you scroll through it:

Yeah, I was going to use my carbon fiber plate but, I couldn't find it. I think it would have worked far better than the glass I used in this case. Thanks!:-)

Oh cool. I learn so much here. Please post if you try some other options.
I like the second one the best......on download they look like mini ice cubes... :)
These look good and I would imagine this idea holds a lot of potential.
Little nanobots spend their days cutting those cubes. Their hard work has paid off and we now have their improved versions running about on our carpets. When they start turning that into small cubes we'll know they have reverted to their original specifications .... and then we'll see the price of salt go sky high.
You certainly tackled a hard subject and have some fine results. Gotta be easier than tackling snowflakes ... at least the salt cubes don't melt.
Nice shot on the first one.
I like the solid reflections in the glass.
What about colored gel on your flash?
Green would look interesting I think.
:D :D
