Let's get rid of all offensive facets of football.

The names are offensive . . . they should henseforth be referred to as Team 1, Team 2, etc.

In spite of all that padding, injuries still occur . . . wrap players in two feet of bubble wrap and impose a field speed limit of 5 m.p.h.

Keeping score damages the self-esteem of those who do not win . . . it's a game. It should be played for fun.

Ban shouting from the stands. Excessive noise levels damage hearing.

Branding half the players as Offensive creates and promotes bullying. By the same token, The defensive squad psyches are irreversibly damaged by sending them out in front of tens of thousands of fans to be brutalized by offensive people.

George; Look at it this way; if they don't scramble their brains playing football, they would probably do it in a car wreck, falling off of a building, in a plane crash, or maybe even getting hit by a meteorite; at least if they play football, they have an excellent chance of becoming millionaires.

Anyway, if everyone quit playing football, we wouldn't have any super bowl! (with all of those weird commercials! )

Are you kidding? I'll bet they'd love it!

I can just see it now; 2018 Superbowl; San Francisco Fudge Packers Vs New York Weenie Washers ( Can you just imagine all the neat adverts they'd have? And the half time show?

I've been thinking that very same thing for years now! And I have worked with a few "native Americans", "indians" who every one thought it was fantastic that they had big football teams named after them; the thing that really pisses them off is when people start digging up stuff like bones of their distant ancestors; (can't say as I blame them either. )

A liberal wrote in our daily newspaper the following;

I agree with our Native American population---I am highly insulted by the racially charged name of the Washington "Redskins". One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as warriors, but nay nay....

We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward.

Let's ditch The Kansas City "Chiefs", The Atlanta "Braves" and the Cleveland "Indians". If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name "Redskins" makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland "Browns".

The Carolina "Panthers" obviously were named to keep the memory of the militant Blacks from the 60's alive. Gone. Offensive to all white folk.

The New York "Yankees" offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war between the states that cost this country so many young men's
lives.

(Besides, the South shall rise again!! )

I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our football team names.
Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans "Saints", Los Angeles "Angels" or the San Diego "Padres".

The fact that there are birds on their shirts does not protect either the Arizona or the St. Louis "Cardinals"---gone!

Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged as their way of life. We are talking the horrible Oakland "Raiders", the Minnesota "Vikings", the Tampa Bay "Buccaneers" and the Pittsburgh "Pirates"! Gone!

Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children---and it is all about the children.

The Green Bay "Packers" and the St. Louis "Rams"--promote gay men. Wrong message to our children.

The San Diego "Chargers" promote irresponsible spending habits. Wrong message to our children.

The New York "Giants" and the San Francisco "Giants" promote obesity--a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children.

The Cincinnati "Reds" promote downers/barbiturates. Wrong message to our children.

The Milwaukee "Brewers"---well, that goes without saying.... Wrong message to our children.

So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should.
A high priority directly behind efficiently managing our country's health care. Amen.

Good one Gitzo… Hell, you can't even name teams by a letter or number i.e.: team 1 or team A because that denotes they are the first team, etc. and all others are just below them. So, what to name a team…..I GOT IT!!!!! name all the teams after their respective owners. If his name is Higenlooper, well, that teams name are the "Higenloopers." LOL.

That's exactly what happened with the Charlotte NBA franchise when the Hornets moved to New Orleans.

Wikipedia says, "On December 18, 2002, a group led by Black Entertainment Television founder Robert L. Johnson was awarded the franchise . . . In June 2003, the team was named the Bobcats. The Charlotte Regional Sports Commission aided with the "Help Name The Team" effort that drew over 1,250 suggestions. The Charlotte Flight was the actual winner of the poll, but was disregarded by Johnson."

Businesses in the country must report serious injuries to OSHA. How do sports teams avoid the reach of OSHA?
