FAQ: How do Macro-Photographs of different formats compare?

With an 8x10 camera, a true macro would record your entire head.
With a 4x5 camera, a true macro would record your nose & both eyes.
With a 35-mm film camera, a true macro would be just one eye, corner to corner (36-mm wide).
With a typical DSLR camera, a true macro would be whites of eyes & iris (24-mm wide).
With a typical P&S camera, a true macro would be just the eye PUPIL (4.5-mm wide).
