Thank you Charles Schulz....it's not the tinsel, the tree, or what we put under the tree. It's because of the birth of Christ, for whom we celebrate with bright lights, giving gifts out of love, and gathering with loved ones and friends.

If you want to take Christ out of Christmas, why bother with the greeting. Use Happy Holidays like others who think it's politically correct.

Typically, most people who write 'xmas' are just using the short form of Christmas. I find that people who don't want to use Christmas say Happy Holidays. This is sometimes not because they want to, it is because they bend to the pressure from those few idiots out there who decide we cannot do what we want to but must do what they want to.

So Merry Christmas and Merry XMAS. Oh Christ, I just repeated myself!! LOL

Actully Xmas comes from shortening Christ's name in Greek. Xristos.

Nice to know, I was just saying how I and my fellow Catholics in my fav 5 use it. I always take the X in XMAS to mean what it's supposed to be. But I cannot say the same for Happy Holidays.

I didn't know that Steve. I always thought it was another way of leaving Christ out of Christmas,

It isn't Christmas for me until I watch Charlie Brown's Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. My Dad was able to carry the Christmas spirit with him the whole year. Strange to hear him say "HO, HO, HO have a glorious day that Christ made for us" in August or March.

BTW, I see from your bio that you studied for the Ministry. Were you ever a minister?
