While the squirrels are away, birds actually do visit. Here are a few who stopped by today. I think there were two different blue jays, the beaks are different lengths. I think they're a couple.
Male blue jay
Another blue jay, calling out
It's not often you can look down a blue jay throat
Mourning dove
Mourning dove, eyes closed (may be nictitating membrane)
Mourning dove back
Female blue jay
And lastly, a female cowbird
sleepydrdr: Great set of photos. I think the second shot is a juvenile blue jay, not grown up yet.

I think so too....but she is my wife.... so to disagree would be fatal on my part.
Cute "throaty" jay, nice feather detail on mourning dove. Has a second SX50 been ordered yet for hubby?

Go ahead Linda...kick me when I am down...
Actually I am thrilled that she has taken an interest...she's got a good eye...
She has also taken over my little time lapse camera...and is currently taking shots of a cucumber...go figure.
Excellent shots really sharp.
