A Saint Barnard Abbey monk built these miniatures of Jerusalem, Rome, and biblical scenes from 1932 to 1961. These were taken with a digital Kodak in March 2005.
Thanks for the two thumbsup briace. I failed to mention that the monk got all materials from trash.

Thanks SX2002! It's amazing when you see it in person. I only posted a few of the work.

Thanks angler. It is my understanding that these were done mostly to scale.

That ought to be cool, will it be on PBS?
The lengthy article in the paper told the company that is doing it, the producer, etc. but did not mention who will carry it. That will probably come out later; if so, I will let you know. The documentary has been researched since 2011, they uncovered a newsreel segment by Paramount Studios, along with a lot of other interesting info. Jim

Jimande, it is a very impressive exhibit. I say that since I went to school there a long time ago when it was a College. It is now a prep school. Beautiful part of Alabama being in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. And the campus grounds are huge. Many years ago the Monks (Benedictine) grew all their own food and slaughtered all their own beef. Glad you enjoyed and shared some photos, been a while since I have seen or been back.

We drive by the exit for this attraction at least four times per year and never thought to "Google it" to see what it was all about. Actually I didn't even know it was an attraction. Thanks for opening my blinds. Looks as if it might well be worth a little side trip on the way North or when heading home. Thanks for sharing.
