Yes, and since I ran several cleaning programs, I haven't been getting them.

Jerry, CNET recently had an article about a new/free program to help you monitor "tracking sites, etc." It has great reviews. I downloaded it and was amazed at the number of "tracking sites" that were "watching" me. I am able to click a button and prevent them from doing so. Here is the site:

The correct term is "phising" Google for a program called "Advance System Care" is is excellent and keeps your computer operating at max efficiency, it is free ware, no cost. One can op for the paid version but the free performs outstandingly. Have it on all 4 of my computers and have had no problems. Ran free version for a month to make sure no problems, upgraded all 4 to paid version.

Thanks. I'll take a look.

I ran ASC, and it said it found 28,514 problems. I told it to fix them, so now I'm good to go - till tomorrow.

For the past few days, I've been getting pop-up boxes saying, "Important Message: Your PC Performance is Poor." I get them on UHH and everywhere else. Is anyone else getting these? Yes, I know is a worthless ad.

I have also been having problems with Internet Exporer 8 and used to get the bouncing screen. I'd get into UHH and then my screen would change back to my Yahoo email page and then back to UHH. Would make me dizzy. My computer guy said that AVG and some others now have bloatware and can really mess up a computer. He deleted mine and put in the free download of Cloud and so far is ok. At least no more bouncing screen pages but IE is real screwed up and I heard that the 9 version is worse so have not upgraded. He set my desktop so all pop-ups are blocked but that can cause a problem when you WANT to get into a website. YOU CAN'T WIN!

Your tech is an idiot. There's no bloatware in AVG unless you tried to download the add-on programs from AVG and then didn't pay for them so you closed the page. That will give you reminders like the ones Jerry has been getting. When was the last time you did a definitions update to your antivirus program? Was this the subscription version or the free version of AVG? I'm sure there was something else wrong like using the wrong version of IE or some other program that had a rider for subscription to some other advertised program. You can't have 2 antivirus programs running in your computer, but AVG runs perfectly well in conjunction with FIREFOX and once a week run SuperAntiVirus or one of AVG versions of that program to delete all the cookies and junk files that you get from the net. You need to read the notes published for IE in their HELP section and determine which version is right for your system. (IE8, IE9 or IE10)

I downloaded IE last week. I did so from Microsoft site but might of got there from a 'bad' link. IE came with a bogus search engine that acted like what you have.
Disabled, uninstalled, antivirused, anti malwared, nothing worked. Finally did system restore. Bingo.
A day later Malwarebytes finally did pick up what was left of it.
I haven't had to deal with something like that for a long time

Mr. Softy is always trying to push their "BING" search engine. Can't blame them for trying. I prefer using the engine in FIREFOX or AVG instead since they both scan the site info and inform you if there are malware segments or hidden loops and trojans before you even open them

It's funny - that Scanner expires after ten days. To use it again, you have to download the latest version.

Jerry, the scanner is only good for 10 days because it is "UPDATED" whenever MS identifies a new bug. I use it about every three months no matter what. I do the "FULL SCAN" before I hit the rack, because sometimes the scan take 6-9 hrs. to complete. Thanks, Boone

It wasn't Bing. I think it was called Babylon. Very invasive. Might have been hiding in iTunes.

I've even gotten some that jiggle & shake that say "your pc is about to crash". I tried to get rid of it by clicking the red x in the corner & the darn thing opened. Whatever you do don't click the "run" if it asks you to. I've been trying to ignore it but it's hard on the eyes.

Not sure if it has been suggested yet but I have used Spybot for at least ten years. Since I started using I never had an issue. Keep it updated and running in the background. It does use some memory but it is a powerful protection method. It is free but they accept donations which I have done every year or two.
