My wife take great pics with her Kodak Easyshare Z981 with its 26X zoom. And she loves it. She has had several Kodaks in the past as well.

I find it excruciatingly slow, difficult to use on Manual and with a highly inferior (electronic) viewfinder compared to my Kodak D90's.

I didn't know that Kodak made a D90? I have had Kodaks since the 40s. Iam now using my Z981...

Check the PIXPRO AZ361again... It does not have a view finder... My Z981 and Z612 do... Also, it does state who makes the lens...

Oops. I meant my Nikon D90 DSLR of course. Having a viewfinder, even a poor one, is a requirement as far as we are concerned. It allows for far steadier handholding and can be used in bright light conditions when the LCD cannot be seen.

Agree with your requirement for a viewfinder with this type of camera. I think lack of viewfinder in a 36x zoom makes the zoom practically useless. Let people try to get a distant live subject on the LCD using the full zoom.

I'm a Kodak fan, and my opinion of the AZ361 is this: Buy a used Z990 instead. CCD sensor vs BSI CMOS on Z990, the extra 36x vs 30x on the Z990 is all at the wide end, only 720p vs 1080p video on the Z990, no EVF, proprietary lithium battery, "Pixpro" lens vs. Schneider on the Z990, and other cut corners.

I'm still waiting for their S1 micro four thirds to decide if I'm staying with Kodak as I upgrade. That Olympus OM-D looks awful nice...

The first Kodak digital I purchased was back in - - about 1998. Cost a bazillion, and broke in 3 years. Fix it ?? Fuggeddaboudit !!
Second one I bought was the DC4800. When it broke (due to my clumsiness) - I bought another just like it in 2009 from E-Bay - great photos, great color, very comfortable to use. Fab for E-Bay photos - but low resolution !!
Unless you feel lucky - - I wouldn't recommend buying a Kodak Anything these days. The company is essentially no more, and if you ever need service - - well - - good luck !! With outstanding cameras by Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Panasonic - - WHY would you go with a dead company ??

Well, I won't say the Kodak is as good as the others you mention, but the company isn't dead. These new cameras are by JK Imaging and licensed to use the Kodak name.

Just have to wonder who the real manufacturer is ??
Possibly a company in China having the original contract to manufacture the Kodak EasyShare line ??
-
Kodak not dead ?? Check the market lately ??

Kodak went bankrupt because their products failed in the market. The only connection between that camera and the old Kodak Company is the name. I can see no reason to buy a product from a company that doesn’t actually exist. Go to any major store and look at the Canons, Nikons etc. They would all be better than the Kodak.

I purchased the Kodak Pixpro AZ361 from HSN last week and it just arrived late yesterday. So far I've only taken pics indoors so my review is based on limited use. LOVE the feel of this camera; lightweight, with soft rubberized grip. Extremely comfortable to hold. Got the red color, which is exceptional! Photo colors are accurate with vivid details, great macro shots. This camera doesn't have a viewfinder, which I miss. Haven't even begun to use all the features this camera has, looking forward to exploring it more. I do have a DSLR, but thus far the Kodak Pixpro AZ is a great, lightweight kickin around camera that I'd highly recommend.

I just received the new Kodak AZ631 this afternoon and wanted to post some very quick and initial first impressions. I am a Kodak fan too and have always liked the Kodak colors, despite what all the professionals think.

I hate having to charge the battery in camera but that's the way it comes. I wonder if my old Kodak all in one charger would work. Have not tried yet...My first concern was performance in general. How fast is it moving in the menus? How fast is the shutter response? I have no issues with the performance so far.

I took a few indoor pictures in auto mode without flash. Pretty noisy at 800 ISO (not surprising to me considering the sensor size)...Move over to P mode and the pictures are definitely better and not quite as noisy. This has been the case with many Kodaks. Need to get out of auto mode for the best pictures!

I am thrilled with the outdoor pictures. Kodaks always seem to give great images of the sky outdoors. Took a full 36X zoom handheld outside and the result was very impressive. No blur at all...

Welcome to UHH BigCTM and Lollipop.
Would love to see some of your shots with YOUR new Kodaks.
As well as some from the OP {hj} :-)
Etiquette would be for you to ask the original poster's (OP) permission if you want to add a photo on his thread.
Or - - you COULD start a post of your own and provide a link to it in this thread - - like this:

I've never heard, read or understood it is proper etiquette to add a photo to someone else's thread. Is this true? Would just seem to me to be additional info to support/clarify the discussion. Why request permission. I know it is etiquette to first ask before modifying/enhancing some one else's photo, but just to post one's own photo which is pertinent to the thread?

Well shucks HJ - - I've been here a while - - I got accused of hijacking someone elses thread early on (although the image posted was on topic) - - just never bothered checking the rules:
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-1-1.html#7982
Nothing in there about adding an image to anothers post.
As you've stated, I've always believed it common courtesy to ask before posting a mod of someone elses work unless they give blanket permission or ask for help buffing a photo up (and some members here are WIZARDS at doing that).
So I stand corrected - - and truthfully, don't see any harm in posting an image that is relevant to the OP's thread.

I know it falls under humor, but I think that Kodak did an awsome job with their original pocket camera. You know. The original "Easy Share". No.1 Folding Pocket kodak.

Just saying. :)

I haven't had a chance to take any outdoor photos with the Kodak AZ, as it's been raining in Michigan for the past 4 days! Looking forward to getting a few sunrise shots by the pier when the weather clears, also will test it at a museum and hopefully at the zoo in the next few days. Will post pics afterwards. NOTE: Like so many others, Kodak does not include a hard copy user manual, you have to download it-which I don't like.
