Creativ Simon made a comment to me about what part of the UK is Arkansas in, as he didn't ask what part of the UK is Idaho in . I made a smart azz reply to him re Idaho , no intent was meant towards you.
It was intended to bring to his atten. I wasn't the only person not from the UK to respond.

I suspended JR1's account for posting a re-edit while the OP specifically asked not to do it.

JR1 is telling me that, on the contrary, the OP asked him to post a re-edit.

To me, the statement "no that is ok. I am good" in that context means don't do it.

Is it some kind of language difference? Would a reasonable person in the UK assume that that statement actually means "go head and post?"

Sorry, Admin, but I would have read that as: "Go ahead, I am good with your posting how the image could be improved with adjusting the lightness area."
And for what it's worth: my first language is Dutch, not English.

As (possibly) a footnote, I'd wish to add my 2cents worth (tuppence).

I think you all need to be congratulated. The posts show thought and a sense of decency. Even evident adversaries have come to the aid of JR1 - with a couple of exceptions. The debate hasn't descended into a Brit bashing opportunity which would've been so easy. And to get some level of sympathy from the repulsive Wabbit speaks volumes for the feeling of genuine community this place engenders.
Yes, JR1 can be viewed as a bit up his own backside, but he has tried hard recently and that has been noted.
I have read the exchange which lead up to this - and I'm damned if I can take sides. They were both right.

Actually, I read it the same way JR1 did. I didn't understand the problem until I re-read the OP's post. And JR1 did apologize when it was pointed out to him

ARGH!!!!!!! I'm late in responding, as usual!

Ah, Esther, but you Dutch folk seem to have a head start on the rest of us when it comes to foreign languages. I worked for Unilever in Holland for four years and thought it might be a wonderful opportunity to learn Dutch. Not so. Everyone, bar none, spoke wonderful English (and French and German) and as soon as I walked into a room the Dutch stopped (sometimes in mid-sentence) and we were back in English.

After my time there, I could just about buy a paper or greet a checkout operator or simple stuff like that but not much to show for four years. I don't know how you guys do it, but it's wonderful!!

Look how all the dutch footballers playing in England speak very good English. Some of them seem to speak better English than some of the English footballers. I agree with you 100%, it is wonderful how they have mastered a foreign language so thoroughly.
